This post can probably only be appreciated by African-American women, but then it could be appreciated by all women. When I say that I am going Natural, I mean that I am choosing to embrace my hair in its natural state. I am accepting my natural curl pattern versus using a relaxer to straighten and remove the curl. I have had a perm since I was 11 years old, so to reach this phase is major for me. I’ve put away my flat iron, and am avoiding any direct heat to my hair like the blow dryer.
But it is definitely more than a notion! I have purchased so many products that are meant to help my journey in embracing my hair. At some point I will figure out just what works for me.
Some women do the big chop, cutting off all the relaxed hair, but I didn’t. I am transitioning into my natural phase in order to keep my length by clipping my ends little by little until finally, it’s all natural.
I almost gave up once, and pulled out the flat iron, but I am now committed to my journey.
I’m going natural!

Thanks for reading my post! I am sort of enjoying it so far. It certainly has been easier. I haven’t had to use a shower cap in so long! Hahaha.

Yessssss!!! It’s a journey for sure. I started last year and wont go back to creamy crack. I grew tired of the burns on my scalp and pain from perms. Between that and my hair coming out in clumps… It took me a minute to be comfortable natural, now I love my curl pattern!!!

Me too. I haven’t fully transitioned yet, but I am seeing and embracing my natural curl pattern. It is taking a lot of work, though.

I am embracing it too, and will be glad when it grows out enough for me to cut out my relaxed ends. I am not liking the transition period.

Wow! I think it will look great on you. I admire the naturalistas and have also pondered on the thoughts… I might have to join the race later. Don’t forget to flaunt it for us when you do. Lolzz. Cheers. 🙂

Thanks. This is big for me. I never did the Jeri curl, the weave or the braids so for me to do this after having been on relaxer since age 11 is huge. Yes, I will post once I am fully there. Know that it is more than a notion. But you can do it once you’re ready.

You go girl. I tried to do a Jeri curl years ago put the wrong stuff in and had hair like James Brown. That was my last time not going natural.

Well i am old so in the 80’s Ready for the World, Rick James all rocked the Jeri curl. So I wanted to join the party but instead joined the Al Sharpton crowd not cool.
