Benefits of the Trickle Down Effect

The last time I paid attention to that term was during the Reagan years when we heard of trickle down economics. The trickle down effect has been mostly associated with supply-side economics, which basically concludes that financial resources and benefits of the wealthy will eventually pass down or trickle to benefit the whole of society.

This week in a video message to me, my Uncle John was basically sharing that we are Christians because someone before us prayed for us. So we are the recipients, beneficiaries of their prayers being trickled down to our generation.

In the spiritual realm, the benefits of the trickle down effect is enormous. You see in the beginning, Adam passed down to us sin and death through his disobedience, but Jesus Christ through his life of perfect obedience, and death and resurrection, passed onto all who would believe, righteousness.

Therefore, as by the offense of on judgment came upon all me to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19 For as one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans 5:18-19 KJV

Before Christ, God had promised to Abraham that through his seed all of the nations would be blessed because he believed God, and his faith in God was counted as righteousness. He was told that through him kings would come. In fact, the King of kings did come, who only could deliver us from our sins, and that king is Jesus Christ. Genesis 15:5,6; 17:6,7

And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29 KJV

We have been adopted into the family of God. To us is given the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know the God of creation because our eyes have been opened. All of God’s promises are yes!

So the trickle down effect of prayers realized and promises made are ours.

American Express used to have a motto: Membership has its privileges. But being an heir in Christ has more privileges than we can ever imagine.

…Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. I Corinthians 2:9 KJV

Now unto him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Ephesians 4:20 KJV

Since we are the beneficiaries, we ought to share and spread the gospel to the everyone we can to keep it going because someone shared with us, prayed for us. Jesus prayed for us, and he still is praying for us.

You see that, the pink highlighted part? Jesus was already praying for us who would hear the gospel and believe in him. I encourage you to read the rest of that prayer. It is found in John 17.

There is an old gospel song that we used to sing that says just that – Somebody prayed for me.

Now it’s on each of us to pray to God for our family, call them out by name, so that one day they too will pray for others, expanding the beneficiaries to the kingdom.

Pray it forward!

Thanks Uncle John.
