Almost Persuaded?

How many times have you heard a sermon and felt a tug at your heart? How many times have you promised God, I will if…?

During the first century church, the Apostle Paul was providing his defense before King Agrippa for preaching the gospel.  He recounts his conversion to King Agrippa. The governor who was listening in, thought Paul had gone mad. Paul appeals to King Agrippa:

King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. 28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuaded me to be a Christian. 29 And Paul said, I would to God that not only thou but also all that hear me this day were both almost, and altogether, such as I am, except these bonds. Acts 26:27-28 KJV

Almost persuaded will not be good enough. Today, God is calling all men everywhere to repent and believe in his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is our only way to the Father, the only way to heaven. He alone forgives us of our sins, and remembers them no more.

As we are about to come into the new year, wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing to know that you’re in Christ?  Don’t wait until the new year. Tomorrow is not promised and may be too late. Jesus said:

All that the Father gives me will come to me and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. John 6:37 KJV

…Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. Hebrews 3:15 ESV

Here is a song by the Winans that still rings true called Tomorrow.  Be persuaded to trust Christ today.

  1. Tomorrow is not promised. Got to take care of things today that you can. Great post and I love that song brings back memories of growing up in Louisiana
