It’s Time To Look Up

So many things going on in life can cause us to feel overwhelmed, be it our singleness, or our relationships – spouse and children, our jobs, our health. We just are getting over the impact of  Hurricane Harvey, and now Irma is barreling down. Then there are the things that we contemplate day to day, wondering when, how things will ever be resolved.

I heard recently in a sermon from one of our pastors – “Stop navel gazing!”  To that I say YES!

The answers are not found in us! We need to elevate!  We need to elevate our gaze and look up to the one who does have all the answers, to the one who says that he will guide our paths, to the one who alone is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. He never sleeps and is well acquainted with all our ways.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. Psalm 121 ESV

Our answers are in him. He invites us to cast our cares upon him because he cares. (I Peter 5:7)  We need not keep dragging our problems around. The LORD cares and rewards those who look to him for help.

But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6 KJV

So, stop navel gazing, and look up!
