About Barbara Fisher

Hello there. My name is Barbara Fisher and I am a new on the blogosphere. I have thought about doing this for sometime as I can be very opinionated about things and sometimes too much for Facebook. I am a married and the mother of two adult children, and the grandmother of seven. I am a Christian and have recently just moved my membership to a Reformed Baptist Church. I retired December 2012, and that has afforded me this opportunity to not overwhelm Facebook with my thoughts. I hope you find my blog – thought provoking, engaging, and interesting. Please let me know what you think. This is one venue where your feedback is the juice craved to keep going and going.

Why Can’t I Be Satisfied?

Distractions are the reason. We live in a very tangible world. So many things compete for our attention. Has it always been this way?

Decades ago, people lived with less, homes were much smaller, only one TV, no cellphones, no more than one car per family, there were no computers nor 24-hour cable news and social media. We knew our neighbors. We used to sit outside on the front porch. Today, we drive up to our homes and the garage door opens and closes behind us. Were we happier back then?

The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup; thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. I will bless the LORD, who hat given me counsel: my |heart| also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth; my flesh also shall rest in hope. Psalm 16:5-9 KJV

Sadly, I do get distracted by the things of life. In America, it’s very easy.  Yet I do know that the LORD is truly my portion. In him, I find contentment because I know that it is God who sustains me, provides for me, protects me, saves me.

Sometimes, we just need to meditate on the Word of God to remind ourselves who our God is. He is.
