About Barbara Fisher

Hello there. My name is Barbara Fisher and I am a new on the blogosphere. I have thought about doing this for sometime as I can be very opinionated about things and sometimes too much for Facebook. I am a married and the mother of two adult children, and the grandmother of seven. I am a Christian and have recently just moved my membership to a Reformed Baptist Church. I retired December 2012, and that has afforded me this opportunity to not overwhelm Facebook with my thoughts. I hope you find my blog – thought provoking, engaging, and interesting. Please let me know what you think. This is one venue where your feedback is the juice craved to keep going and going.

The Real Thing

Today it is hard to tell what’s real. What we see is not necessarily what we get. We all wear masks of some sort; some to hide our true thoughts, feelings and motives. Some masks portray how we would like to be perceived. Even the products we buy indicate that they are artificially flavored, although Coca-Cola’s slogan was It’s the Real Thing.

What’s real? Recently, there was a big brouhaha about Alicia Keys because she has been choosing to not wear makeup. People were literally in a tizzy because of it. Her going without makeup has no bearing on them, so what about her going without makeup bothers us so much?

Although there is a lot of artificiality about us, I cannot help but remember that we are but dust. We started there, and will return there.

For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. Psalms 103:14

Have a blessed day all! Let’s go to church today.
