Daily Prompt: Dream
We all have dreams of what we want to be, what we want to accomplish but unless we do the things to make them happen, they are just pipe dreams.
Few have had dreams that really could have been considered pipe dreams but they did something to make them happen. I remember once in church, I heard a little boy who was pretty rambunctious say that he wanted to be a brain surgeon. I was so hoping that his dream would have been nurtured and that he would have been guided into a path that would move him toward making that happen. It didn’t have to be a pipe dream, but sadly it was.
As parents, we are charged to nurture our children’s giftedness. Each child is different, it is ours to find out where they excel. Certainly, all little basketball players who want to grow up to play NBA may not make it, but will it be because they did not give it their all?
I just remembered having seen Kevin Durant 2014’s NBA Most Valuable Player Award tribute to his mother. But because of his mother’s commitment he made it to the NBA.
I have a little cousin, who I am certain will be a major league baseball player because of the devotion of his mother. She exposes him to everything baseball. She has him playing in the local little leagues and competing in tournaments. He made it to the USSSA All American Games last year. Before each game, his mom has him say the following:
My name is Korey Rainwater Ramson. I’m a child of the Most High God. I am gifted, talented, and intelligent, and I can do ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME!
Yes, I expect to see him being drafted as an MLB player. Go Korey!
Dreams have to be nurtured. Dreams take work, devotion, and an unwavering commitment.
I know I have already commented on this once, but I had not seen that speech! Wow. What a young man. What a mom. I hope I am an inspiration to my kids like that.

Sheila, I am pretty sure you are. It was a very moving tribute, though.

The world needs to adopt the acronym God whispered to my spirit a few years ago, I Make Positive Actions Come True (I.M.P.A.C.T. for short.)
